New seating collections by m.a.d. Furniture Design
m.a.d Furniture Design and Remodern shares the same belief: that good design should enhance people’s lives. And demonstrating that ethos, we have introduced three new seating collections from m.a.d; Transit, Resonate and Lolli.
Matt Cole and Dan Given established m.a.d. in 2010. Having worked for more than 10 years in furniture design and production in Asia, they wanted to forge their own path in the industry. Matt and Dan strive for honesty and simplicity in design, producing high-quality furniture that is accessible, affordable, modern and timeless.
Based in Southern China, m.a.d. works with US-based designers Mark Daniel and Amanda Ip of award-winning firm Slate Design, and Alexander Muspratt-Williams of alexandercreate. The company also draws on a relatively undiscovered resource of craftsmen and manufacturers in Southern China, tapping into materials and manufacturing processes in close proximity to the m.a.d. production facility. “We draw from this wide palette of materials and source components from the best manufacturers,” says Creative Director Mark Daniel. “This plays into one of our key strengths, which is mixing materials – not something many people can do well in China.”
This can be seen in Lolli, which combines plywood and upholstered seats with metal and timber frames. Offering beautiful and functional simplicity, Lolli has a simple moulded seat atop a minimal frame, which is available with a metal-rod sled base or timber four-legged option.
Transit is one of m.a.d.’s best-selling collections and is characterised by its minimal steel rod frame shaped to provide a slim, curving and dynamic silhouette. The range includes dining chairs, outdoor chairs and a variety of stools. The outdoor chairs have an all-in-one steel frame that incorporates the seat and backrest, while the indoor chairs and stools have a moulded plywood seat and back providing ergonomic comfort.
The seating is stackable and the epoxy coated steel legs area available in a range of colours.
Guided by ergonomics and function, Resonate (above) has a galvanised steel frame that is shaped for comfort and streamlined to minimise the impact of the elements. Ideal for indoor or outdoor use, the stackable chair is available with or without arms, in a range of colours, and with an optional cushion for added comfort.
All m.a.d furniture has robust construction, making it ideal for hospitality, residential and commercial settings.
