Nongzao’s philosophy is that design thinking has the potential to create greater integration between the natural world and industrialised society, and help bridge the complexity between social culture and the simplicity of human nature.

Nongzao investigates ancient practices, local knowledge, and folk wisdom through a multi-faceted approach of extensive field research, responsive design, and practical observations. They focus in areas where over centuries, humans have gradually shaped their natural environment, working to the strengths of the natural ecosystem to symbiotically co-exist. This ‘humanisation of nature’ is a product of the unity of nature and man and can serve as an example to guide us in our search for a circular and sustainable way of life.
