With immense pride, and a bit of exhaustion, we invite you to experience the new Remodern. Come with us on a journey into new territory, where ideas are bold and new paths are forged.

There's no denying it, the pandemic changed us all. For better or worse, there's no going back to how things were. We've learnt too much. As the world changed and evolved, so did we. Despite business remaining sustainable throughout 2020 (something we're very grateful for), we were forced to look inwards.

Our journey began with (what we thought would be) a straightforward brand refinement. Diving into Remodern's brand strategy showed us fairly quickly that we weren't honouring our true passion. We had spread ourselves too thin and lost clarity along the way.

With this realisation, we had no choice in the matter. The next year was spent stripping back and rebuilding. The brand aesthetic is one big change you'll notice, but that's really just the icing on the cake. We've made radical changes in what we do and how we do it.

The biggest and most exciting change was also the most difficult. Deciding to only work with designers exclusive to Remodern in Australia. This meant reducing our range by more than 50% and ceasing representation of designers we had worked with for many years. It was not a decision made lightly, and certainly not a profit driven one either.

Our strongest connection, and where we know our strength lies, is in progressive design. We're excited by objects that push us outside of our comfort zone. So, we now exclusively represent a small selection of designers that challenge and motivate us to be our very best. This will grow in time, we will take on new designers, but not in a hurry. Curation is key for the future of Remodern.

With our new approach, we are committed to being true partners to both our designers and retailers. And so another hard decision was made – to step away from ecommerce.

Our online store was a big part of our business model, but it created competition for our retailers and ate up time we wanted to be spending with our designers. While it will impact our bottom line for a period, we know this is the right move for us and our community. We now have the time to help our designers push their creativity, craft their story and reach new markets globally and here in Australia.

It's been a nerve-racking yet thrilling time getting to this point. The future is bold, clear and purposeful. We're excited to take you on this journey with us, sharing the inner workings of Remodern and our designer's creative practices too.
